Have you ever tried meditating? (Interesting little thing happened as I went to type the word "tried"...I ended up typing the word "tired"...hmmm, little subconscious interference at my fingertips.)
It's a little tricky at first, meditating. It can be very challenging to quiet your mind; "am I doing this right?" "I feel like a dork" "I'm hungry" "concentrate!" "oh, shoot, I forgot to pick up the dry cleaning" "now, stop it! you are supposed to be quieting your mind!" "I wonder why so-and-so hasn't called me back". You get the idea.
But if you can stick with it and find a way that works for you, meditation can be an extremely rich addition to your day. If nothing else, it gives you a few minutes to just focus on yourself, your breath, your body. Now, the next tough part is finding a quiet place to sit!
Everyone meditates differently. Make up whatever way works for you--the key is to slow your breathing (but keep breathing!) and try to slow your mind. I'd love to hear your meditation experiences!

You have the best timing! (as usual). I've been thinking about mindfulness and meditation for awhile now, but haven't done anything about it. I actually picked up a flier for a class. You've convinced me to get on with it already. Thanks!!
Oooh, I'm so excited to hear about the class!! Good for you! My only suggestion would be to NOT go with a friend. I know, sounds funny--but one little thing can set the two of you off and giggling isn't really "in" in meditation. Ha ha. Enjoy your "me time"...you deserve it!
