Plastic bags are estimated to take between 500 and 1000 years to rot and decompose. If you must use plastic, try to reuse them several times...recycle when you can.
The best choice, of course, is to reduce our demand on plastic. What's one little step you can take, starting today, to help the Earth?

I've stopped using ziploc baggies for snacks on the go and in my son's lunches. I found these re-usable bags called "snack taxi's"....http://www.snacktaxi.com/
They have some fun patterns and are washable too!

That's cool, Stephanie! I am mindful of the plastic bags at the grocery store and have gotten better about either not using those or reusing the ones I have--but the baggie thing is still a toughie for me. I'm going to check out that website!
This would be very hard. Almost everyone everywhere gives out plastic. That is why it will become a problem soon, yet still no one is doing anything to prevent this.
shapewear--that's why I believe the change starts with the consumer. We have to start making changes ourselves so the demand will go down, thus less plastic being produced. If one person makes a change, it can start a ripple effect. We can't give up even though the problem seems insurmountable.
